Ursache: 24.11.86 built in 1730 by swan hunter shipbuilders ltd. haverton hull. owned at time of loss by helinger ltd. oil engine, single shaft. passage river st lawrecnce, quebec, for the clyde. sought shelter in bantry bay on 18.1 to carry out repairs serious deck cracks. after parting from stbd anchor in heavy weather on 22.11 sailed from bantry bay but steering gear broke down in force 9 weather. was abandoned with engine running and drifted dereclict for 24 hours. went ashore 24.11.86. broke in two and caused severe pollution. later slipped off rocks.
