(ll & sibi).positional analysis: the wreck plots 1.7nm south of the position given in larn & larn (2000), which was derived from shipping casualties (1910) as3nm nwxn of holyhead breakwater light. the wreck is mis spelled in larn & larn as "marquis of bute". wreck returns (1910) state the collision took place between south stack and the skerries, where the wreck lies.archival analysis: marquess of bute was on a voyage from liverpool to newport. shipping casualties (1909-10, p120) does not state whetherthe ship was inbound to holyhead or outbound. the orientation of the wreck as seen on the ukho scan points is as if it was entering the port this might be due the circumstances of the collision. there is no mention of this collision in the times (by online search 17 apr 2020).
