Ursache: built in 1864 by blackwood & gordon of port glasgow. owned at time of loss by g j kidston (clyde shipping co). 65 hp. was engaged in towing the barque ravensbourne from liverpool to troon. strap of connecting rod broke and fell to the bottom of the hull where it punctured one of the iron plates. the vessel soon foundered. the crew of nine made their way across to the barque which returned to liverpool.
